In this educational one day class you will learn:
The basics of wood movement and how to stabilize wood
Various wood joints
Recommendations of tools you need to get started
Detailed coverage of multiple woodworking concentrations, such as the sawmill, CNC, kiln drying, and hand tools
Concentration between hand tools and power tools
Basic forestry from felling trees to creating pieces
With the Additional Hands-On Instruction, you also receive:
Personalized instruction tailored to what you want to build (have a specific project in mind? Here’s where you’ll get direct recommendations on wood species, tools, joinery, finish, and anything else you have questions on!)
Extra time to try out some of Old Mountain Woodworking’s tools to see what will work for your workshop.
If you have additional questions on your project after the Intro to Woodworking class, you get a phone call or text (up to 15 minutes) with more one on one guidance.
You will also receive a list of helpful books and websites to aid you in your woodworking journey.

In this 2-Day Class, you will learn:
Day One
Woodshop safety (eyes, ears, limbs, appendages)
The differences between wood glues
How to select the best wood for a cutting board
How to use a planer
Why a cutting board is a building block for more advanced woodworking
How to identify wood grain direction and why it matters
How to glue up and clamp a cutting board (panel)
Day Two
How to use a table saw sled to safely trim your board to size
How to use a router and router table to put an edge profile on your work
How to sand (or hand plane) your board smooth
How to apply food-safe finish to your cutting board
How to care for your brand new, hand-crafted cutting board!
